Abstract
1,161,061. Valves. REAVELL-FAHIE Ltd. 9 Aug., 1966 [18 May, 1965; 9 Aug., 1965], Nos. 21091/65 and 34055/65. Heading F2V. A single seat flow control valve comprises a sleeve valve member, slidable in a guide and having a stem adapted to be connected to an actuator. The valve is shaped to reduce stem forces due to dynamic and static fluid pressure. The sleeve may be counter-bored at the seat end, have a tapered end or a combination of these features. The sleeve engages in a cylindrical portion of the seat which may also be chamfered. The sleeve may have a piston portion subject to inlet pressure at low valve lift. The stem may be connected to an electric motor through a screw and nut mechanism.
