Abstract
282,842. British Petroleum Co., Ltd., and Ackland, E. C. Jan. 26, 1927. Hinged valves.-A hinged valve having a swivel or rotary disc and suitable for petrol nozzles has the disc c mounted on a. curved arm d<1> so that the disc can be disposed on the supply side of the seating whilst valve shaft e<1> is located on the delivery side whereby the liquid pressure tends to keep the valve closed, and leakage at the spindle gland is minimized. The seating a may be conical. The handle p<1> is directly connected to the shaft or spindle e<1> so that a quick action of the valve is obtained; moreover, the valve is positively held in the open or closed position by a spring-pressed sliding catch v engaging the handle, as shown.
