Dual closure valves; leakage, preventing. - A dual closure valve which closes both the inlet 24 and the outlet 6 comprises a cylindrical plug of elastic material 9, such as rubber, which terminates in a coned end 10; the upper end of the plug is also coned, or provided with a flange 18 adapted to seat on a shoulder in the casing when the valve is closed to prevent leakage past the valve member into the upper part of the casing. A washer on the top of the flange 18 is adapted to form a tight joint with the cap 14 in the open position so as to prevent leakage along the screwed spindle 12. The plug 9 may be made of ebonite, bronze, or other material, and may be built up of two or more parts.
