Abstract

451,629. Ships' hatches. MORTON, R., 22, Billiter Street, London. June 24, 1935, No. 18057. [Class 113 (i)] Hatch cover sections are locked in the positions on the hatch coaming by pivoted catches 4 which are turned to take into recesses 9 provided in the ends or sides of the sections 1. The recesses 9 are closed at the bottom by plates 8 which are slotted to permit the lowering of the sections into position when the catches 4 are in their raised, inoperative position. Other hatch sections associated with sections provided with locking-devices as described above are secured in position by depending hooks 12, Fig. 7, which after passing through slots 13 in the coaming are slid to engage with the edge 14. The edges of the sections not provided with locking-devices may be provided with noses which engage with complementary sections on the hatch beam or coaming. The abutting edges 2, 3 of the sections may be bevelled as described in Specification 323,294, [Class 113 (i)].
