Abstract

448,822. Hatches. GUTHRIE, C. G., Altair, Formby, Lancashire. Oct. 18, 1935, No. 28787. [Class 113 (i)] Metal hatch members 17, 18 of box-section are made with outwardly and inwardly splayed abutting edges 21 so that the sections interlock as shown in Fig. 3. Certain of the sections are provided also with outwardly splayed ends which take underneath wedge-sections 19 mounted on the hatch beams 12 and wedges 14 on the edges of the hatch coaming. The banks of sections separated by the hatch beams 12 are locked bv terminal key sections with which a locking bar extending across the hatch engages.
