Abstract
434,212. Ships' hatches. TELL, E. E. VON, 20, Frolundagatan, Gothenburg, Sweden. Feb. 28, 1934, No. 6531. [Class 113 (i)] A hatch covering comprises three sections 4, 7, 9 of which the section 4 is hinged to the top of the hatch section and the remaining sections are hinged to each other in such a manner that when opening the hatch the sections are folded back on each other and the whole hatch cover is then turned about the hinges 5 of the first section 4. The hatch covers are clamped at their edges by bolts 18, packing such as described in Specification 381,481 being interposed between hatch coaming and cover. Eves 20 on the lower ends of the bolts 18 work on crossbars 21 so that, when the bolts are loosened they may be bodily slid back and laid flat on the rest bar 22. Packing is applied to the transverse abutting edges of the sections. Specification 348,017 also is referred to.
