Abstract
613,413. Ship construction. BEDFORD, C. P. July 17, 1944, No. 13616. Convention date, March 21, 1942. [Class 133 (ii)] Portions of ship structure of a cellular nature are constructed by first erecting and securing the vertical bulkheads 29 on the inverted deck member 28. This structure is then turned over on to the deck 3, the vertical bulkheads being secured by welds 37. Decks 31, 34 are similarly attached to their related bulkheads 32, 35 and each are then turned over and secured by welds 38, 39. Large units are constructed in sections divided laterally, hoisted into place separately, and then attached to each other by welding.
