[Class 113 (ii)] A ship having wide hatches to facilitate loading of cargo containers has its longitudinal strength maintained by sheer girders formed of longitudinal plates 33, 59 and 60, this girder forming a fore-and-aft passageway. Transverse webs 62 are fitted. Beams 35 are fitted across the holds to support upper rows of containers and to locate containers 70 in the lower tiers.
