Abstract

1,080,975. Hatch covers. GOTAVERKEN A.B. Sept. 6, 1965 [Oct. 1, 1964], No. 37987/65. Heading B7S. A hatch cover, pivotably mounted by means of a hinge device 3 upon the coaming 4 and comprising two sections 1 and 2 foldable about hinges 5 so that their undersides come together, is fitted to and carried by two beams, each consisting of portions 8, 9 running at right-angles to the pivot axis and foldable in the same manner as the sections 1 and 2. The hingedly connected sections have considerably greater length than the combined breadth of the two sections and their weight is mainly carried by the two beams which are spaced at about one-third of the length of the sections from the breadth side. The folding joints of the portions 8, 9 contain members adapted to counteract the downward acting forces in the joints. Stiffeners 10 at right-angles to the beams transfer a portion of the weight to the breadth side of the coaming.
