Abstract

667,357. Hatch covers. MACGREGOR, J., and MACGREGOR, R. Nov. 9, 1950 [June 12, 1950], No. 14624/50. Class 113 (i). In a steel hatch cover comprising two sections 1, 2, adapted to roll on the coaming in an athwartship direction so as to overhang a side coaming 3, 4, when opening the hatch by one method, the sections are hinged to one another on a fore-and-aft-axis 11 so that one section may be swung over on top of the other section when opening the hatch by an alternative method, each section being provided with legs 17 at or near each outer corner to run on the deck. The legs 17 are disposed so as to lie within the confines of the side coamings 3, 4, outside the end coamings 5 when the hatch is closed. The hinge connecting the cover sections is provided with withdrawable pins whereby the two sections may be independently moved. Specification 337,975, [Class 113 (i)], is referred to.
