Abstract

943,503. Hatch covers. SCHIFFSWERFT NEPTUN ROSTOCK VEB. June 23, 1961, No. 22851/61. Heading B7S. [Also in Division E2] A hatch cover comprises sections 1 which move along the coaming 6 on rollers 12 to be stowed in a stack at one end of the hatchway. The sections are connected by arms 2 in the manner of lazy-tongs and the endmost section is connected to the ram 9 of an hydraulic actuating cylinder 10 which is pivoted to the deck at 11. The sections are moved to open or close the hatchway by the hydraulic ram 9 and also from the position shown in Fig. 3 to the stacked position, about the pivot 13. The sections may be stowed on an extension of the coaming and they may be stowed flush with the deck.
