Abstract

1,202,988. Ship's ports. AKERS MEK VERKSTED A.S. 28 June, 1968, No. 30981/68. Heading B7S. [Also in Division B8] An opening in a ship's side is closed by a door 3, and is provided with an adjustable platform 4 to assist loading and unloading. In Fig. 2 members 16 engage pins on the top portion of the door. To open the door, pistons are extended from hydraulic cylinders 20<SP>1</SP> and pivot members 16 about fixed pivot 19<SP>1</SP> thus moving the door out from the opening. A wire (19) is attached to mounting 24 and the door raised. Platform 4 has pins 5 entering guideway 6 and wires 12, 13 are attached to pins 7 and 5 respectively. When door 3 has been raised a convenient amount, hydraulic cylinders (not shown) adjust wires 12, 13 to position platform 4 so that mountings 21, 22 on door and platform may be coupled. Wire (19) then lowers the door and platform to form a ramp. Alternatively, door 3 is held above the opening and platform conveniently positioned (Fig. 4, not shown).
