Abstract

The loading ramp for the RO-RO ship has a two section design normally folded behind the stern or bow doors. The main part of the ramp has a circular outer edge on which the outer ramp is pivotted from slings (24). This allows the ship to be berthed alongside difficult quays and still allow unimpeded access. The adjacent bearing surfaces of the two ramp sections are grooved for smooth running. The relative angles of the two sections are adjusted by servo rams (18).
