Abstract

411,213. Floating aircraft stations. SOMERSCALES, T., Dale House, South Cave, Brough, Yorkshire. Jan. 20, 1933, No. 1868. Class 113 (ii).] A floating aircraftstation comprises a platform which is supported by pontoons F which are maintained in engagement with the platform solely or mainly by their buoyancy. For this purpose the main girder structure supporting the platform is provided with upwardly-tapered sockets S designed to receive the correspondingly-shaped head of the pontoon F. The pontoon is locked in position by the lever taking beneath the ring. The pontoons are provided with a central trunk J surrounded by the horizontal compartments F<1>. To flood the pontoons they are divided into watertight compartments by horizontal bulk heads. Control valves for flooding and emptying are provided and the pontoon is traversed by a watertight trunk passing through the compartments to which water-tight doors give access.
