Abstract

295,518. Mitchell, E. H. Sept. 6, 1927. Vessels for carrying vehicles. - To facilitate embarking and stowing motor and other vehicles on ships, ferry-boats, &c. the, vessel is fitted with a lift A and gangways C, C<1>, the platform of the lift, carrying one or more turntables D. With this arrangement, one or two vehicles may be run on to the lift from the quay K, and may be run off longitudinally of the vessel at the lower deck levels. As shown, the hinged gangway C is carried by a platform C' vertically adjustable in guides independently of the lift platform A. In another form (Figs. 5 and 7, not shown) the gangways are hinged to the lift platform.
