154,823. Elvy, F. J. Feb. 24, 1920. Boats adapted for nesting.-Lifeboats are modified to permit one boat to be stowed on another and also on the deck without the use of chocks and without damage. The boats are each fitted with a thick plank a in place of the usual keel and with side keels b, b expending vertically downwards to the level of the bottom of the plank a. The side keels b, b are secured to speciallyfitted planks c secured together with the keels, to bilge keelsons d by bolts e. Pillars g secured to thwarts h by anglebars take the thrust due to the weight of the upper boat when stowed, this boat being carried on planks n which support the side keels of the upper boat. Bearers p supported by pillars l carry the keel a as shown. The side keels may be slotted to provide hand grips for use when the boat is capsized, and fitted with castors to facilitate transport on deck.
