Abstract

480,987. Collapsable boats. SAUNDERS-ROE, Ltd., and GOATLEY, F. Jan. 5, 1937, No. 298. [Class 113 (ii)] A collapsable boat has a bottom formed of a wooden sheet a stiffened with transverse members a<1> and longitudinal strips a<3>. The sides are formed of canvas c, secured between a strip a<2> on the bottom and a top plank b<1> secured to the shaped gunwale b, formed of vertical laminae. The gunwale is supported by struts e hinged to the members a<1>. The collapsable stem consists of a strut h having a lever h<1> pivoted to it and supported by the block a<6> and a rope i secured to the bottom and to the lever h<1>. The gunwales are connected at the forward end by a plate b<4> which allows slight relative movement. The stern frame is divided horizontally into two parts f, f<1> hinged to each other and to a member g connecting the gunwales.
