Abstract

528,191. Collapsable boats. GOATLEY, F. April 22, 1939, No. 12124. [Class 113 (ii)] A collapsable boat has a bottom 1 reinforced by a strake 4, a gunwale 6, canvas sides 8 secured to the gunwale and to the outside of the strake 4, and a number of gunwale supporting struts 14, hinged so that they lie in a fore and aft direction when the boat is collapsed. The struts may be hinged to the bottom and be provided with bolts 16 to lock them to the gunwale in operative position, or they may be hinged centrally to a stringer 12 and engage a clip on the bottom. The bow and stern constructions of the boat are substantially similar to those described in Specification 480,987.
