[Class 113 (ii)] A folding boat comprises two sections 1, 2 hinged at 3, Fig. 1, and capable of being maintained in its expanded form by tensioned securing means such as a cable or wire 4 passing along the bottom of the hull. The section 2 may be turned over to the dotted position for storage or transport. The tensioning wire 4 may be secured by a grommet at one end to a pin 4c, Fig. 5, in the section 1 and at the other to a pin 4d in a, square sectioned tube 4a. The tube normally rests between keel members 2b, 2c to allow sliding but prevent rotation. At one end of the tube a nut 4e is provided for a screw terminating in a collar 4f. When in extended position the collar 4f is engaged by a plate 2c which is provided with a notch 2d and is connected to the keel members. To enable the sections of the boat to be detached from one another the hinge members are arranged to be detached by lateral movement of the sections after releasing a retaining member. The bulkheads formed by the meeting sections may be partly cut away and pivoted at members 1e, 2e which close the cut away parts in the folded position, thereby providing a closed locker for stowage purposes. The boat may comprise one main section bluff ended and a pointed bow section which may be nested for stowage in the main section.
