Abstract

Stays.-Bowsing-gear for drawing ships' boats to the embarkation deck or for keeping them off the ship's side during lowering operations consists of arms D pivoted on brackets B on stanchions A opposite each fall and adapted to be slewed outboard so that a double-headed hook H mounted thereon engages with one side or the other of the fall. The hooks are then moved by screw-gear (not shown) operated from the deck to draw the boat to or push it away from the ship's side.
