Abstract

366,811. Davits. HUNT, J. B., 39, Southeourt Road, Penylan, Cardiff, and LOVERIDGE, T. L., 7, Park Road, Penarth, near Cardiff. April 17, 1931, No. 11364. [Class 115.] Luffing davits are pivoted at 4 to the deck off the side where a strut 10 is pivoted the other end of which embraces the davit and supports it in its inboard and outboard positions by engaging with stops 12, 11 on the davit. A keel chock 17 pivoted to the strut is held up by a pin the release of which puts the weight of the boat on the falls 7 and causes the davit to luff outboard when the winch is released. The davit may be associated with the runways described in Specification 329,274, [Class 115, Ships &c., Rigging &c. for], the struts 10 being connected by a bar 20 to which are secured a pair of slides hinged to the edge of the deck over which the boat slides during lowering operations.
