Abstract

361,115. Boat-lowering gear. SPANNER, E. F., 13, Shooters Hill Road, Blackheath, London. Nov. 20, 1930, No. 34937. [Class 115.] The outhaul wires d of sliding davits are connected to a winch barrel Q of smaller diameter than that for the falls, the two barrels being interconnected. When the davits are moved outboard the boat lowers slowly from the davit head. In a i modification the diameter of the outhaul barrel is arranged with a smaller diameter only when the davits are nearly outboard. In a further modification a similar result is achieved by passing the fall c over a pulley near the deck edge.
