Abstract

374,428. Davits. PEEPS, H. D., 52, Yarmouth Road, Caister-on-Sea. March 7, 1931, No. 7151. [Class 115.] To increase the reach of luffing davits, the main davits 1 which are mounted in brackets 2 on the deck are provided at their heads 12 with auxiliary arms 11 having downward extensions 10 from which the boats are suspended. When the davits 1 are luffed outboard the secondary arms are swung relatively to the main davits by the rope 13 attached to the quadrant 11 and passed under the lead 14a to the winch 15. The main davits 1 are provided with toothed quadrants 4 and may be all operated through bevel gear from a single motor. In a modification, the gear driving the main davits is interconnected with the gear controlling the falls.
