Abstract

448,099. Davits. CARR, G. W., 7, York Terrace, North Shields. Sept. 1, 1934, No. 25245. [Class 115] The luffing-davit a is shaped so that its lower portion embraces the boat b when inboard. The outboard luffing movement of the davit is controlled by a linkage comprising the members d<1>-d<5> the innermost member being pivoted at d<6> to the frame f and the outermost to the lower outboard end of the davit. At the end of outboard movement of the davit which is controlled by the fall r the nose a<3> of the davit takes into the recess p, the linkage d<1>-d<5> being straightened. Sideways movement of the davit is limited by the cheeks j. Various modifications are described. In some the lirkage is secured to a bracket carried by a deck erection. In another the linkage d3, Fig. 10, is arranged beneath the boat deck.
