Abstract
473,774. Framing for boats. FLEMING, I. R., and FLEMING, F. E. May 20, 1936, No. 14249. [Class 113 (ii)] A straight apron 17 with the grain running lengthwise and bolted to the straight stem 15 is connected at its lower end to a straight-chock 19 with the grain likewise running lengthwise. The aft end of the chock 19 is coupled between the keelson 11 and the hog piece 14 which is located between the keel 10 and the keelson 11. The metal bracket 21 secured in the angle between the apron 17 and the chock 19 serves as an anchorage for the lifting tackle 22. In a modification, the keelson extends from the bow to the stern apron and chocks under the ends of the keelson provide faying surfaces. The construction is designed to obviate the employment of grown frames at the bow and stern of the boat.
