Abstract

A ship has its length at all draughts below the load water-line exceeding the length between perpendiculars. The stern contour in side elevation extends downwards to the load water-line, then forward immediately below the load water-line, and then downwards to the keel line, whereby there is a forward protuberance between the load water-line and the keel line. Said protuberance can, in horizontal section, be rounded at the fore end or taper more or less to a point.
