Abstract

355,981. Ships' hulls. YOURKEVITCH, V., 45, Rue Brancion, Paris. Sept. 22, 1930, No. 28279. [Class 113 (ii).] Ships' hulls are constructed with the fore part of the ship about the waterline narrowed down at what is termed the point of application of the forward push of the water the position of the point depending on the ratio of the speed of the ship to the square root of the length and is located near the bow when the ratio is equal to one and in the neighbourhood of amidships when the ratio is equal to 3 and varying between these limits proportionally. Fig. 3 shows contrasted waterline curves. As shown in the body plan in Fig. 1a, the stem frames are widened and flattened to provide a free outlet for the stern streamlines and the A bow frames approximate to vertical at the water-line.
