Abstract

468,280. Making boat &c. hulls. HART, N. Nov. 1,1935, No. 30242. [Class 83 (ii)] [Also in Group XXXIII] The underwater parts of boat - hull and pontoon floats for aircraft are bent up from templated flat blanks into a convexconcave form while maintaining on either side of the keel straight line zones commencing approximately at the centre line of the deepest part of the bow and terminating close to the widest part of the bow that is normally submerged. In the templated blank shown in Fig. 3, the straight line zones BE, BG separate the central convex portion from the concave sides. The fore part is templated to form the bows when the blank is bent into shape. The construction permits the omission of transverse frames, but the straight line zones may be stiffened as shown in Fig. 9 by longitudinals 13. The junction of the bottom with the sides 17 defining the hard chine line may be stiffened with a tubular or longitudinal or angle-bars may be employed. Blanks for the sides and deck are described.
