Abstract

1,079,401. Planing hull; outboard drives. J. R. WYNNE. June 29, 1964 [July 29, 1963], No. 26830/64. Headings B7A and B7V. In a V-bottom planing hull having a first strake (5) disposed above the water level during planing and a second strake (6) disposed inwardly and downwardly from the first strake (5) which second strake includes an aft portion which is below the water level at non-planing speeds and which does not extend below the water level at planing speeds; an outer hull surface portion 31 is disposed between said strakes fairing from the hull surface at a distance from the stern (14) between one-fifth to one-twentieth of the length of the hull and extending aft therefrom at an angle of between 2 and 6 degrees outwardly in relation to said hull surface, terminating at the stem. Said portion (31) extends at a small angle from a location (32) towards the stern (14). Other strakes (8 10) may be formed on the hull. The upper strake (5) may form the hard chine of the hull.
