Resistance to propulsion, reducing.-For reducing resistance to propulsion rotatable bodies 5, 6 are mounted at the bow of the ship on axes 3, 4 substantially parallel to the longitudinal plane of the hull, these bodies partly protruding beyond the external surface of the hull at 2 and being positively rotated so as to deflect the stream flow 9 laterally away in the direction 10. The external surfaces of the rotors may be fluted or bladed to increase their grip upon the fluid.
