Abstract

538,372. Surf boats. UNITED AFRICA CO., Ltd. (Arkle, A.). Jan. 29, 1940, No. 1806. [Class 113 (ii)] Surf boats are stiffened by an internal tension-member comprising a wire stay 18 attached at its ends 10, 17 to the stem and stern of the boat and passed through eye bolts 11-16 secured to the keel 2. Hubs 19 on the stems of the eye bolts allow the stay 18 to be tensioned. A removable wire 8 with turn-buckle 9 gives a preliminary tension to the boat.
