188,070. Alexander, A. E., (Steward-Davit & Equipment Corporation). Aug. 2, 1921. Davits.-In an arrangement in which a pair or luffing davits is employed to handle two nested lifeboats, the davits being provided with eyes a<1>, a<2> to support the duplicated blocks and tackle attached to either boat, each davit is horizontally pivoted at a<6> to a carriage running on a horizontal run-way substantially level with the point of attachment of the falls to the lower boat. This arrangement enables the upper boat to be luffed outboard with the falls attached to the lower boat and without disturbing the latter.
