Abstract
363,805. Davits. DINGERTZ, K., 23, Brahmsallee, Hamburg, Germany. Dec. 9, 1930, No. 37085. Convention date, Oct. 14, 1930. [Class 115.] Ships' davits of the luffing gravity type comprise a rigid davit arm pivoted to a rigid system presenting a stop against which the davit arm first abuts on release of the suspension rope whereupon further rocking of the rigid system about a second pivot located further outboard results, the two units moving as one during this second phase. A davit arm 1 is pivoted at 2 to a framework 3 which in turn is pivoted to the ship at 4. In the inboard position the arm 1 rests against a stop 5 and the boat abuts on a stop 11. As the falls 7 are released, the arm 1 pivots about 2 until it abuts at 12 on the second frame. During the next phase of movement the system as a whole rotates about a pivot 4. The system is restrained by a tension member 6. During the outboard pivoting movement, the pulley 9 is held at the outer end of the arm 1 by a curved arm 15, but becomes free for lowering the boat thereafter.
