Abstract

151,354. Schat, A. P. June 21, 1919. Chocks.-Relates to chocks of the type comprising a fixed member 1 and a pivotally-mounted supporting-member 3 which supports the keel of the boat, and, when collapsed, allows the boat to swing out freely. The movable member is pivoted inboard of the vertical plane passing through the boat's keel, and is provided with screw jacks 16 for giving the boat an initial lift. The chock is maintained in its raised position by a pivoted tumbler 4 which engages a recess 6 in the movable chock and is provided with a tail which is held down by the hook of an S-shaped cam 7 mounted on a fore-and-aft rod 8. In a modification, the movable chock member is fitted with a tail engaged by the hook of a member 4 pivoted at 5 and provided with an arm which engages with a pivoted S-shaped cam 7. In a further modification, the secondary locking-shaft is provided with a lever which is held against rotation by means of a bell-crank lever one arm of which engages the lever and the other contacts with a rigid member, and is held down by a rope passing around a wheel on the lever shaft. The gripes are provided with eyes at their lower ends which engage rigid hooks arranged athwartship and open in an outboard direction.
