Abstract

162,005. Phillips, G. J., and Keller, L. A. Oct. 16, 1919. Boat lowering and supporting gear.-A pair of nested boats are stowed beneath luffing-davits of the kind described in Specification 151,520, the lower boat being lowered by the ordinary tackle whilst the inner boat is supported from the davit heads by ropes c. The larger boat is provided with pivots engaging hollow half trunnions mounted in a frame provided with a movable keel bar similar to the arrangement described in Specification 101,271. Further nests of boats are stowed inboard suspended from an athwart ship runway comprising angle-bars k, on the flanges of which bear the wheels n, m of carriages which support the ends of the boats, the carriages being locked by pins t thereon engaging in slots in a member projecting from the bell-crank lever o through which the keel bar g is operated so that the release of the latter sets the pair of boats free to run outboard under the control of rope gear. The extremities of the runway are curved to accommodate the carriers of the boats already launched.
