Abstract
220,972. Mountford, E. C. G. March 26,1923. Davits.-A luffing davit of the quadrant type is adapted to roll outboard under gravity even against limited angle of heel and for this purpose the stand B in which the davit A is mounted is furnished with a series of legs and supports D . . D<2> with which engage in succession sockets and heel fittings C .. C<2>. The outboard move ment of the davit wheels is limited by the links E, the inboard ends of which are anchored to a spring buffer, is controlled by the fall U which passes over the fairleads 0, P, Q, D to the winch &c. At the base of the davit a V-section dumb fairlead T is provided which prevents the fall from running freely until the davit is fully outboard and in a position for lowering the boat. Until this position is attained, the portion of the fall U on the inboard side of the dumb fairlead acts as a topping lift. Double-sided chocks are provided within the davit and the boat may be held thereto by a clip.
