Abstract

328,377. Jennings, E. Sept. 17, 1929. Boat-lowering cradles.-A fender for ships' lifeboats comprises a number of swivelling-rollers mounted on a band which can be attached to a lifeboat with the rollers projecting toward the ship. The band 1 is attached by hooks 2, 4 to the gunwale and keel of a lifeboat. Rollers 5 are mounted so as to be rotatable on a pin 6 passing through a bracket 7 which in turn is rotatably mounted on a stud 8 secured to the band 1. The rollers 'are preferably of vulcanized rubber. In place of the bushes 10, bail bearings may be utilized. Resilient rubber pads 11 may be placed on the inner side of the band which is held taut by means of an adjusting screw on flanges 3.
