Abstract

455,312. Davits. MILLER, J., c /o Barclays Bank, Ltd., Derby. April 26, 1935, No. 12511. [Class 115] Ships' davits comprise a substantially horizontally guided cantilever beam which is projected outward by the weight of the lifeboat being launched and is connected to a winch which controls the endwise movements of the beam. The boat 2 is hung from the beam 1 mounted between rollers 3. The fall 5 is trained over the rollers 6, 7, 8 to the winch 9, which thus controls the horizontal movement of the beam under the weight of the boat. The beam is recovered by the fall 10 running back to the winch 11.
