676,870. Arresting broken threads. MULLER, K. Feb. 9, 1949, No. 3553/49. Class 120 (ii) A textile spinning machine has means for retaining a broken thread between the delivery rollers and the spinning head comprising an interceptor rotated at approximately the same speed as the spindle and having means to grip and hold the thread when its tension is reduced due to breakage. One device consists of a twist tube having two plates e, f with eccentric thread apertures and between them a movable thread guide g constrained by centrifugal force to grip the thread between the plates. An alternative device adapted for right-angled feed of the thread has a cap that is spring-urged outwardly from a hollow whirl but normally is held inwardly by thread tension. When the tension is released movement of the cap under spring pressure causes pivoted levers to grip the thread.
