Abstract

679,016. Spinning textile yarns. MULLER, K. June 22, 1951, No. 3555/49. Classes 120(ii) and 120(iii) Twist is inserted into yarns in two or more stages by passing the yarn through a spinning machine two or more times in opposite directions whilst imposing a greater tension during the reverse than the forward motion. The additional tension may be imposed by a swinging finger, a roller and pawl arrangement, a friction wheel, or strips of pile fabric. In one device, a member 1, rotatable at the speed of its associated spindle, carries a friction wheel 6 which runs freely when the yarn is being spun forward, but is held by a spring pawl 7 when the yarn is reversed. In another device, a similar member 1 carries a pivoted clamping finger which opposes the passage of the yarn during the reverse movement.
