Class 120(ii) This cop-winding machine is similar to that described in Specification 683,287, to which reference is made, but the yarn tension device, which moves with the cop-forming means and the yarn-traversing means, comprises two plates 42, 43 spring-urged, together by an adjustable torsion spring, disposed about the pivot 46 of the plates 42, 43, the plates carrying grooved rollers 52 staggered in relation to each other to press upon the yarn from opposite sides and constrain it to follow a tortuous course. Extension 50 on the plates 42, 43 provide a hand-grip for opening them scissors-fashion for threading after piecing-up The ensioner may be positoned between the traverse cone and the spindle. In alternative forms, the traverse mechanism may comprise a rotating grooved cylinder or an oscillating arm.
