Abstract

602,001. Winding yarn &c. COMPTOIR DES TEXTILES ARTIFICIELS, SOC. A.R.L. July 5, 1945, No. 17240. Convention date, Oct. 26, 1944. [Class 120(ii)] The bobbins B, B' of a thread &c. winding machine are rotatably mounted on axes a, a<SP>1</SP> attached to frames s, s<SP>1</SP> pivotally mounted on a shaft 2. The bobbins are driven by the frictional contact of rollers R, R<SP>1</SP> driven by belts 11, 11<SP>1</SP> from pulley 12, 12<SP>1</SP> on a shaft 8, the rollers being urged into contact with the bobbins by the weights P, P<SP>1</SP>. Stops limit the movement of the frames b, b<SP>1</SP> which carry the driving rollers. The thread &c. after passing over a fixed guide pulley 17 is traversed by a guide 18 reciprocated by a bar 19 carried on rollers 20 and actuated by a cam 27 and pivoted rod 22. The cam 27 is feathered to its driving shaft 28 and is moved by a cam 37, rotating at slower speed, when bobbin B is completely wound, to traverse the thread on to B<SP>1</SP> (or vice versa), the unwanted thread between the two bobbins being severed by a knife (not shown). A manually operated bolt V is withdrawn when a bobbin is wound, in order that the frame S, S<SP>1</SP> may be swung outwards to a doffing position and an empty bobbin replaced. To effect uniform tension of the feed yarn, (Fig. 4), it is led from the pulley 17 about a roller S carried at the mid-point of an arm 43 oscillated about a fixed pivot 44 by a slotted connection 45 with the reciprocating bar 19, and then about a roller t on an arm 41 attached to the bar. The effect of this arrangement is to keep the length of thread between the roller 17 and the guide 18 constant at all times.
