Abstract

560,657. Winding thread. COURTAULDS, Ltd., and HAMPSON, C. H. Aug. 21, 1942, No. 1367 /44. Divided out of 560,637. [Class 120 (ii)] A machine .for winding thread packages tapered at each end comprises a rotating roller C adapted to receive the thread, and a thread guide N traversing the package and in contact therewith and mounted at one end of an arm M to the other end of which is fastened a rod J passing through a slot H in a lever E pivoted at.W to the traverse rail D<1> and oscillated thereby about a fulcrum L so that the arm M is reciprocated along an axis parallel with the roller and swings about such axis as the package fills to move the rod J in the slot H towards the fulcrum L and thus shorten the traverse. As shown, the arm M reciprocates along a shaft D<2> rigidly connected to the traverse rail D<1>. The roller may be driven positively with the package, or, by contact with a driven drum A ; the fulcrum L may be adjustable lengthwise of the lever E.
