[Class 120 (ii)] A yarn package is tapered by holding it above a driving drum with the axis of the package spindle in a vertical plane disposed at an angle to the vertical plane passing through the axis of a reciprocating bar carrying a thread guide. A spindle C upon which the yarn package is built is held obliquely across a friction driving drum A by slotted arms E, adjustable for length, while a guide G is traversed in a line parallel to the drum shaft B by a bar J.
