Abstract

558,331. Winding yarns &c. COURTAULDS, Ltd., and HAMPSON, C. H. June 29, 1942, No. 8917. [Class 120 (ii)] In a yarn or like winding machine in which the bobbin 1, on which the yarn is wound is mounted on a spindle 2 carrying a fixed whorl 3 and a removable whorl 4, for driving it, the removable whorl 4 is provided with an internal spiral groove 10 which is engaged by a small rotation with a lug 6 at the end of the spindle 2 to connect the whorl 4 thereto ; a short straight groove 9 may lead into the groove 10. The groove may be formed in a brass or like insert 7 held in the whorl by a pin 8.
