Abstract

479,209. Spinning and like spindle apparatus. GIBSON, W. Sept. 16, 1936, No. 25191. [Class 120 (ii)] Spindle apparatus for spinning, roving, or twisting frames comprises a ring, having at least one peripheral notch for engaging the yarn, which is positively rotated and reciprocated longitudinally of the spindle. As shown in Fig. 1, a yarn-engaging ring 8 is rotated by flyer legs 1 carried by a driven spindle 2, and is reciprocated by a rail 10, the pirn 7 being carried by a friction disc 13 fast on the spindle and dragged by a cord 15. As shown in Fig. 3, the ring 8 is engaged by the arms of an inverted flyer, and the spindle 2 is frictionally driven by a disc 17 and dragged by a centrifugal drag 19, the yarn being wound on a pirn or on the bare spindle.
