Abstract

493,194. Centrifugal spinning-apparatus. PRINCE-SMITH & STELLS, Ltd., and SMITH, W. PRINCE. March 8, 1938, No. 7210. [Class 120 (ii)] In a centrifugal spinning or like machine in which, immediately the yarn is wound in the cup or like holder it is wound automatically on a bobbin carried by the internal reciprocating guide tube, an extension 25A of the spindle is provided to engage and wind up a broken end. During the winding in the cup, the bobbin is supported on the guide tube so that the projections 42 are above the yarn extending from the tube to the internal winding. When the internal winding is completed, the bobbin is released by unshipping a latch 40 connected with the supporting yoke 37, 39 from the transverse bar 27, and allowing the slide 31 to fall on to a stop-piece 43. If an end breaks the varn is severed behind the delivery rollers and the loose end coils on the extension 25A as shown : as soon as it is observed the operative unships the latch and the yarn is wound on to the bobbin, a new yarn being then brought into the pot and spinning restarted so that the bobbin finally wound contains two unjoined ends.
