Abstract
527,584. Spinning and winding jute &c. HAYES, J. April 15, 1939, No. 11499. [Class 120 (ii)] A jute or like winding machine, especially one having an automatic self-doffing arrangement, is combined with a roll-winding apparatus, for winding the yarn from the doffed bobbins into rolls, located within or substantially within the lateral limits of the spinning machine. As shown the spinning machine has an automatic self-doffing arrangement of a known type and the yarn from the doffed bobbins 10 is wound directly upon spools 28 driven by drum 29 ; the spool rises as it is wound and finally leaves the open-topped bearing slots 27a and rolls down inclined ramps 30. The spool may be raised out of contact with the driving drum 29 when the bobbin supply is exhausted by a treadle 31. The yarn from the bobbin 10 passes through a hole in a traverse bar 36 and the yarns from a group of bobbins may be wound on one spool. The doffed bobbins are carried on a rail 18 which is engaged by spaced fingers 43 on a bar 33 so that the rail 18 cannot be displaced by the drag of the yarn. Specification 521,131 is referred to.
