Abstract

1,179,632. Unwinding machines. VEREINIGTE VIGOGNE-UND GROBGARNSPINNEREIEN VEB. 31 March, 1967, No. 14889/ 67. Heading D1J. Apparatus for changing unwound supply bobbins for full ones on a spinning machine without stopping the machine comprises a pivotal member 18 having fingers 19 in which ends of yarn 21 from a reserve bobbin, or bobbins 35 are engaged whilst ends of yarn 29 are fed by grafting rolls 17 from a bobbin or bobbins 10 driven by a drum 2. The reserve bobbin 35 is held from engagement with its driving drum 36 by a catch lever 39 until the yarn diameter on the lower bobbin 10 has decreased to a size for its axle 12 to depress and then slip by one end of a hammer member 11, 13 which strikes a lever 44 which trips a pawl 5 into engagement with a ratchet wheel 3 secured to drum 2, the pawl 5 being carried on a cam 4. The cam 4 is rotated one revolution and the pawl 5 is then disengaged by a trip'pin 7. The cam 4 operates a follower and lever 46, 24 to pivot, through a bracket 22, the member 18 to prevent the free ends 43 of the yarns 21 from the upper bobbin 35 to the nip of the drafting rollers 17. At the same time the catch lever 39 releases the upper bobbin 35 into engagemnet with its driving roller 36 so that the yarns from this bobbin are then fed to the spinning machine. If the lower bobbins have run out they can be removed and replaced manually by the upper bobbins without stopping the machine and a fresh reserve bobbin installed. If the lower bobbin has not run out completely, or it is desired to change before it is run out by lifting the lever 44 manually, the yarn ends 29 from the lower bobbin 10 are clamped by a clamping plate 27 co-operating with a guide bar 25 (Figs. 7 and 8, not shown) on the member 18. The return movement of member 18 will then break the the yarns from the lower bobbin which can then be removed as before. The bobbins may be of the multiple type feeding a number of separate threads from spool sections simultaneously to separate spindles of the spinning machine.
