Abstract

1,183,207. Spinning machines. KANEGAFUCHI BOSEKI K.K. 1 March, 1967 [10 March, 1966; 11 March, 1966], No. 9745/67. Heading D1D. A bobbin changing apparatus for a spinning machine having at least one spindle rail 13 with a row of spindles 3 comprises a carriage 1 mounted upon wheels 8, 8<SP>1</SP> and having guide rollers 6, 6<SP>1</SP> and 7, 7<SP>1</SP> for co-operating with a guide rail 10 secured to the spindle rail 13 and a bottom flange of the rail respectively. The carriage has a handle 9 for manually moving it into position at the end of a spindle row, of which the bobbins require changing, and is moved along the rail by means not described to doff fully wound cops successively, by means of a spiral roller 2 frictionally engaging the yarn surface of the cops, and to replace them by empty bobbins 4a from a feeding device 4. The doffing roller 2 is of an elastic material and has a spiral pitch corresponding to the spindle pitch and is mounted upon a spring loaded arm 23a. The roller is driven by a belt 27 from a shaft 26a (Fig. 8) which is in turn driven from a pinion 14, in mesh with a toothed rack 11 along the guide rail 10. A cam 73 on shaft 26a also operates a kick-plate 66 (Fig. 9) on a pivoted bracket 67 to release a fully wound bobbin from its spindle and simultaneously a curved tension plate 5a (Fig. 12) moves the yarn clear of the cop, the yarn then being cut by a cutting ring 50. As the carriage 1 progresses along the spindle row removing the full bobbins, empty bobbins are supplied from the feeding device 4 comprising an elevating chain device 98 (Fig. 9) driven from the pinion 14 which lifts empty bobbins from a storage container and feeds them into a chute 102 (Fig. 4) from whence they drop one-by-one onto the respective spindles. The doffed bobbins are guided into a container in the base of the carriage 1 and means are provided for stopping the spindles in the desired position for doffing. The various operations are initiated by hook devices 15, 16, 17 (Fig. 2) on the carriage 1.
